Leo Tolstoy wrote the short story entitled, "God Sees the Truth, But Waits." God sees the truth, but He is waiting. But we humans, often find it hard to wait.

How hard is it to wait for God to act in our lives? Maybe we have the same answer, it's hard.

The truth is, we often slow down with God. What we want, when we ask or pray, is for God's answer to be immediate. Right now! Let us pray like this: "Lord, give me patience, right now."

Do you remember Sarah who was Abraham's wife? He was slow to fulfill God's promise to multiply Abraham's seed, so Sarah gave Abraham the servant Hagar.

Because of that, Abraham had a son by Hagar. That was the beginning of all the trouble in Abraham's life.

Patience to wait is the greatest test of faith. And often, this is where we are tested, especially at a time when we want everything to be instant. Isaiah 30:18 says, "Blessed are all they that put their trust in Him."

If we only learn to wait, God will fulfill His promise in Isaiah 40:31, 'But those who wait for the LORD will renew their strength, like eagles will soar, and run not tired, and walk not faint. "

Make fun of that, let's just learn to wait we will have new strength and vitality similar to an inflated eagle. But because we don't have the patience to wait, someone like us is a bird of prey.

David received the grace of waiting. He says in Psalm 40: 1, "I waited, he inclined, he heard." As he waited, God inclined his hearing to Abraham.

It is wonderful to think that God will be interested in us and listen because we have learned to wait.

David received four blessings because he learned to wait:

He was raised by God from the deep and muddy well of failure

God lifted him out of despair. Failure is like a whirlwind, pulling us under; we are immersed, overwhelmed, and deprived of hope.

And when hope is lost in us, that is the beginning of our end.

In Los Angeles, California, because of a job loss, a couple agreed to kill their five children, ages two to eight, and then, they themselves committed suicide, because they had lost hope of ever recovering in their poverty.

God has the power to lift us out of the whirlwind of failure. All we need to do is learn to wait for what He will do. This couple can't wait.

God laid him on solid rock, a safe and secure place

Many times we avoid boiling oil, but we end up with fire. "From the pan to the fire," he said.

I remember the story about a fish who asked his monkey friend to lift him up into the river and put him in a large aquarium that he could see from the river.

He was jealous of the fish in the aquarium because he thought they always ate here. Also, many people are always watching the fish in the aquarium.

One night, the monkey managed to put him in the aquarium. He didn't know, that turned out to be the aquarium of a restaurant whose "gimmick" was "teach you, and I'll cook."

God, when He raises us up in the whirlwind of failure, He will make sure that we are laid on the solid rock, all that is needed is for us to learn to wait and trust.

God will reassure his steps

From the whirlwind of failure, God brought David to a place of safety, security, and certainty.

From walking briskly as if drunk, David learned to walk upright like a mighty soldier, every step certain because he learned to wait upon the Lord.

I get nervous every time I see a child just walking. There is always the danger of falling and being hurt. However, if there is always someone to support him, there is nothing to worry about.

So are we. If we do not learn to wait upon the Lord, we are like a child who has just walked without support.

God created with his lips a new song

If then what David sang was all a song of misfortune, now, it is all a song of victory. David was endowed by God with a new outlook on life, a new attitude.

Life is a matter of attitude. If we have a positive attitude in life, we can afford to face any crisis. We have no control over what is happening around us, but it is up to us to react to what is happening.

We will have the right outlook and attitude if we learn to wait on God. Psalm 118:14 says, "The Lord is my strength and power."

God can give us not only physical strength. God has provided new hope, new contentment, new joy, and new inspiration. We must only learn to wait for God to act.

Guide:

List on a piece of paper the requests the Lord has already given you. Thank God for them.

Then, also write down requests that have so far not been answered.

He is with us whether worthy or according to God’s purpose, will it be beneficial to you and others? Pray for them daily and ask in faith that they will be granted you.
